Stock Index and Commodity Weekly Market Type Analysis 03/05/2015 by Sam Eder

Each week I review the current market type and fundamental considerations on a variety of stock and commodity indices. Market type analysis is critical to trade planning.

MT = Market Type ( See lesson 8 in the Share Investing Course for Smart People)

  • US Dow Jones – MT is sideways normal. Wait for now
  • US S&P 500 – MT is bull normal. Continue to buy.
  • US Nasdaq – MT is bull normal. Continue to buy.
  • US Russell 2000 – MT is bull normal. Continue to buy.
  • UK 100 – MT is bull normal.  Look to buy.
  • Europe  50 – MT is bull normal. Watch for a bullish reversal on the daily charts as an opportunity to buy the dip in a bull normal MT.
  • Germany 30 – MT is bull normal. As above wait for signs of bottoming. Be cause as the market is coming off quite hard at the moment.
  • France 40 – MT is bull normal. Large bearish engulfing candle suggests taking some profits here.
  • Italy 40 – MT is bull normal. Be wary of short-term weakness and look for reversals to signal buy opportunities.
  • Spain 35 – MT is bull normal. Be wary of short-term weakness and look for reversals to signal buy opportunities.
  • Swiss 20 –  MT is bull normal. Shifting from strong bull to bull normal. Take profits.
  • Netherlands 25 – MT is bull normal. Selling off hard. Take profits.
  • Japan 225 – MT is strong bull. Hold.
  • Honk Kong 33 – MT is fast bull. Keep stops tight.
  • Singapore 30 – MT is just bull normal. Hold.
  • Australia 200 – MT is sideways normal. Look for buying opportunities at the bottom of the range.
  • Gold – MT is sideways normal. Signals turning bearish.
  • Gold vs EURO – MT is sideways normal. Look to buy off the bottom edge of the range
  • Silver – MT is sideways normal. Also turning bearish.
  • Silver vs EURO – MT is sideways normal. Wait
  • Copper – MT is bear volatile. Could be reversing to bullish. Watch carefully
  • Brent Oil – MT is bear volatile. Shorter term signals bullish.
  • WTI Oil – MT is bear volatile. As above, short-term signals are bullish, and a double bottom is now in place. Fundamentally I suspect we have not seen the low in oil. But we are a buy for now.
  • US 30 year Bonds – MT is bull normal. Look for reversal patterns to indicate a buy.
  • US 10 year Bonds – MT is sideways volatile. Wait.
  • German 10 year Bonds – MT is strong bull. Another bearish candle last week, wait for now, look for short-term bullish patterns to buy the dip.
  • UK 10 year Bonds – MT is volatile bull turning sideways bull. Prefer to wait now.
