From the FXWW Chatroom: Initial unemployment claims +15k to 258k in Mar 18 employment
survey week vs 238k expected and 254k in the Feb 18 employment survey
week. Annual revisions are included in the data and put the most recent
bottom at 210k in Feb. 25 week, low since 1969. Unadjusted claims +2,878
vs -10,223 seasonal factors expected. There were no special factors and
no states were estimated. The 4-week moving average +1,000 to 240,000 in
Mar 18 week. The average would rise sharply next week if the headline
number is unchanged as that recent low 210k level in the Feb 25 week
rolls off. Continuing claims -39,000 to 2.000m in Mar 11 week, low since
a revised 1.999m level in the Feb 18 week.
