Stock Index Weekly Market Type Analysis 20/07/2015

Each week I review the current market type and fundamental considerations on a variety of stock and commodity indices. Market type analysis is critical to trade planning.

MT = Market Type ( See lesson 8 in the Share Investing Course for Smart People)

  • US Dow Jones – MT is sideways normal. Wait for now.
  • US S&P 500 – MT is sideways normal. Wait for now
  • US Nasdaq – MT is bull normal. Breakout to a new high turns us bullish. Look to buy.
  • US Russell 2000 – MT is bull normal. Continue to buy for now but with extreme caution.
  • UK 100 – MT is sideways volatile.  Our strategy last week to buy above the high on UK ane European Indices worked well. Near the bottom of a volatile range so careful longs now in play
  • Europe  50 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Germany 30 – MT is sideways volatile. Close enough to the bottom of the range to look long.
  • France 40 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Italy 40 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Spain 35 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Swiss 20 –  MT is sideways normal. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Netherlands 25 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now but longs preferred.
  • Japan 225 – MT is sideways volatile. Bullish weekly candle and strong fundamental trend suggest now is a decent buy.
  • Hong Kong 33 – MT is sideways extreme. Wait for now.
  • Singapore 30 – MT is sideways volatile. Go long as near the bottom of the range
  • Australia 200 – MT is sideways volatile. Longs ok here too.
  • Gold – MT is fast bear. Gold being crushed. Prefer shorts on the break-out. Careful in this fast market type.
  • Gold vs EURO – MT is fast bear. As above.
  • Silver – MT is bear normal. Silver also breaking out. Look short
  • Silver vs EURO – MT is sideways normal. as above
  • Copper – MT is bear normal. Last weeks long fail. Cancel and go short.
  • Brent Oil – MT is bear normal. Go short.
  • WTI Oil – MT is bear normal. Go short.
  • US 30 year Bonds – MT is sideways volatile. Volatile market so stay out.
  • US 10 year Bonds – MT is sideways volatile. Volatile market so stay out.
  • German 10 year Bonds – MT is bear normal. Look to sell, with caution as the resolution (for the moment) of the Greek debt issue may change this trend.
